AIP — Appointment Information - Personnel Resource
Appears after SCH in SIU and SRM messages. One AIP per personnel resource required.
The AIP segment identifies personnel resources required for an appointment, such as physicians, nurses, or technicians. It enables scheduling systems to reserve specific people or roles for an appointment.
Real-World Context
AIP is how provider scheduling works in HL7. When a patient books with a specific physician, AIP carries that provider request. In OR scheduling, AIP identifies the surgeon, anesthesiologist, and scrub tech. Provider availability checks in scheduling systems depend on AIP being populated with correct provider identifiers.
