The primary key that groups a patient's imaging session. All series and images from the same exam share this UID. Used for C-FIND/C-MOVE queries at the study level.
Troubleshooting
Series from the same exam appearing as separate studies in PACS means they have different Study Instance UIDs. Verify the modality receives the correct Study Instance UID from the worklist and doesn't generate a new one.
