GT1 — Guarantor
Appears in ADT messages with financial information, BAR (add billing account), and DFT (detailed financial transaction) messages.
The GT1 segment contains information about the guarantor — the person or organization financially responsible for the patient's account. It is used in billing and financial interfaces.
Real-World Context
GT1 is the billing team's segment. The guarantor in GT1 may or may not be the same as the patient. Employer information and employment status in GT1 are critical for workers compensation and disability claims. If billing rejects are citing missing guarantor information, the root cause is almost always incomplete GT1 data.
